I have mixed feelings about the apparently soon-to-be-announced anti-spammer poison nofollow tag. It should deter spammers (particularly since it is likely that all the major search engines will follow Google’s lead in implementation), but also strips a vital part of the infosphere– the connections gleaned between sites through legitimate comments– for which we have only one, less than convenient manual replacement (trackback).
If trackback is “less than convenient” then you need PingBack…
One way of making the whole thing suck a little less is if the “nofollow” relation was only put on unmoderated comments. So all comments would be displayed, but only moderated ones wouldn’t have the “nofollow” relation on their links.
