As those hardy souls that read this site on even a semi-regular basis know, my time is divided between my work in technology and the better (but unfortunately brief) times I get to spend writing, reading, and generally dabbling in wordplay.

On this site, the written products of these sometimes competing activities overwhelm one another. I suspect that the majority of readers that come here are really interested in just one broad domain, not both. And I have often worried that this caused a kind of cancellation effect and turned potential return visitors off.

For this reason I am splitting all the artsy-fartsy stuff– my writing, ruminations on poetry and poetics, film/television/book reviews, thoughts on literature, and the commonplace book– to Cosmopoetica, where the navel-gazing can continue unabated.

Ruminate will become more focused on the areas of technology I find most interesting: educational technology, blogging, web collaboration, wikis, RSS, social networking and social information networks.

(I realize there is a sound argument to be made for keeping everything together on one site. In this way, when it comes to the personality of blogging, readers get a better picture of the person. We each, after all, contain multitudes… why shouldn’t our blogs? But there is a limit to how much of me most people can put up with!)
